IS EQUINE FACILITATED LEARNING RIGHT FOR YOU?

Equine facilitated learning programs combine coach, client, and horse in the discovery and learning process in some of the latest, most groundbreaking experiential education platforms.  

This is not horseback riding, and the focus is not on developing horsemanship skills. Participants interact with horses through structured ground-based activities. No prior horse experience is necessary and, in fact, individuals with horse experience will find themselves equally challenged.  

As sentient beings, horses are highly aware and responsive to their environments. They can quickly sense danger and can easily identify intentions and emotions in other horses. These natural skills allow them to thrive in the wild, as well as in their more recently domesticated herd environments. 

How does this translate to working with humans? As prey animals, a horse’s survival depends on accurately identifying the intention of another being, as well as identifying the leader within its own herd. Their high sensitivity and awareness make them powerful teachers for humans because they provide immediate feedback and can accurately identify those who are in a state of authentic behavior. Here’s an example.  Horses don’t need to spend much time in their heads to accurately and quickly identify if a roaming mountain lion just ate lunch—or if it is on the prowl for lunch. This sensory ability makes horses outstanding coaching partners. 

In our programs and workshops, highly trained facilitators create exercises designed to enhance leadership skills, increase mindfulness and awareness, and build stronger teams. In addition, humans are learning quick and easy ways to access inner wisdom, reduce stress, increase resilience, and raise their levels of consciousness.
